- The best drivers for the dignitaries present at the NATO Summit
The
drivers assigned to drive the cars of the official motorcades attend a
specially conceived training program which include complex, real -life
exercises.
They were selected from the employees of The Ministry of Defense, The Ministry of the Interior and Administrative Reform, The Protection and Guard Service, The Romanian Intelligence Service, The Special Telecommunications Service and The Foreign Intelligence Service. The selected drivers have a vast experience,acquired during years of practice, in areas with difficult condititions, according to the specific of the missions of their institution.
The exercises they perform at present are planned with a view to training as well as to gettting the drivers used to the vehicles that will be used in order to transport the dignitaries present at the NATO Summit. Within the training, the drivers esercise ways of correct handling of the car, of exploiting the physical limits of the car; they also practice ways in which they may poit out their driving skills as well as their ability to anticipate and approach the potential risks by trying, first and foremost, to avoid the dangerous situations, from the very beginning.
At the same time, the training of the selected drivers takes into account the specifics and the composition of the official motorcades, as it contains exercises of rapid motorcade forming, of motorcade running in different formations, of dignitary evacuation in critical situations and also the most appropriate reaction in atypical circumstances.
The drivers were medically and psychologically examined; during the Summit, they will be submitted to a daily medical checkup, upon getting to work and taking over their responsabilities.
With a view to transporting the delegations in good conditions during the NATO Summit, there will be established 4 vehicle parks. Each car used during the Summit will be submitted to a technical and security ckeckup before getting started.
With the purpose of ensuring fluency in traffic and an efficient coordination, the circulation of the motorcades on the Single Corridor will be guided from a unique command point.
