- Citizens are advised to take into account the recommendations regarding road traffic
Public road traffic is restricted as of 1 April on certain secured road sections because a single corridor has been established for the movements of the official motorcades. The single corridor has been established from „Henri Coandă” International Airport to the Parliament Palace, as follows: D.N. 1 - „Aurel Vlaicu” International Airport– Presei Libere Square – Kiseleff Rd. – Arch of Triumph – Victoriei Square – Calea Victoriei Rd. – Naţiunilor Unite Square– Naţiunilor Unite Ave. – Parliament Palace.
Road traffic is forbidden along the following sections (because of the single corridor):
- On Kiseleff Rd., between Presei Libere Square and the Arch of Triumph, public traffic will be forbidden on the central section, but it is allowed on the side lanes.
- On Kiseleff Rd. between the Arch of Triumph and Victoriei Square and, further on, along Calea Victoriei Rd. to Naţiunile Unite Bridge and on Naţiunile Unite Ave.
- along the Parliament Palace perimeter, namely Izvor St., 13 Septembrie St. between Panduri Rd. and Libertăţii Ave., Unirii Ave. between I.C.Bratianu Ave. and Constituţiei Square and on Libertăţii Ave.
Cars will be allowed to cross the corridor in the following points: Bucureşti Ploieşti Rd. – Aerogării Ave., Arch of Triumph, Kiseleff Rd. - Arhitect Ion Mincu St., Calea Victoriei Rd. – Dacia Ave., Calea Victoriei Rd. – Regina Elisabeta Ave., Calea Victoriei Rd. - Naţiunile Unite Bridge.
In order to avoid traffic jams at these junctions, we recommend that driving from the eastern to the western part of the city should be done through Victoria underground passage, and in the south of the city, through the junctions: Dimitrie Cantemir Ave. with Mărăşeşti Ave., Tineretului Ave. with Gheorghe Şincai Ave., Tineretului Ave. with Văcăreştilor Rd.
On 2 April 2008, between 17.00 – 24.00 hours, traffic will be forbidden on Regina Elisabeta Ave., Eroii Sanitari Ave. and along the perimeter of Cotroceni Palace, namely Cotroceni Rd. (between Cotroceni Bridge and Leu Square), Dr.Gheorghe Marinescu St., Geniului Ave. (from Panduri Rd. towards Leu Square). This section can be crossed at Operei Square and at Eroilor Ave. - Eroii Sanitari Ave. crossroads.
Between 1 – 4 April, the traffic sign system will be modified and supplemented with direction signs. Stopping and parking vehicles on the above-mentioned routes is forbidden, either on the roadway or on the sidewalk, on the streets that intersect the corridor, up to 10-15 meters from it, as well as along the perimeter of the objectives.
On DN1, traffic is not closed, as Bucureşti - Ploieşti Rd (up to “Henri Coandă” International Airport) has one lane available in both directions, reserved for public traffic.
On Kiseleff Rd. between Presei Libere Square and the Arch of Triumph lanes are reserved for public traffic, while the central section of the road is for the secured corridor.
Kiseleff Rd. (between the Arch of Triumph and Victoriei Square), Calea Victoriei Rd (between Victoriei Square and Splaiul Independenţei), Naţiunile Unite Ave and the perimeter of the Parliament Palace are reserved exclusively for the movements of the official motorcades. For this reason, the side streets that intersect this section are closed, with the exception of those mentioned as crossing points.
Therefore, the streets that are perpendicular on the single corridor will be closed in the points where they intersect Kiseleff Rd and Calea Victoriei Rd (the single corridor). These are: Pictor Mirea St, Uruguay St, Mahatma Gandhi St, Docenţilor St, Serg. Dorobanţu St, Tuberozelor St, Monetăriei St, Sevastopol St, Grigore Alexandrescu St, Frumoasă St, Orlando St, G-ral Gheorghe Manu St, Nicolae Iorga St, Mihail Moxa St, Griviţei Rd, Biserica Amzei St, Banului St, Piaţa Amzei St, G-ral Berthelot St, George Enescu St, Episcopiei St, Ştirbei Vodă St, Benjamin Franklin St, Dem I. Dobrescu St, Ion Câmpineanu St, Matei Millo St, Edgar Quinet St, Constantin Mille St, Doamnei St, Lipscani St, Mihai Vodă St, Franceză St, Stavropoleus St, Sfinţii Apostoli St.
As of 1 April, 07.00 hours, the perimeter of the Parliament Palace will be closed, namely Naţiunile Unite Ave, Izvor St, 13 Septembrie Rd, Libertăţii Ave, as well as the arteries that provide access to them: B. P. Haşdeu St, Dr. Staicovici St, Prof. Dr. Alexandru Vitzu St, Sabinelor St, Uranus St, Unirii Ave.
