After checking the coordination capacities, the conclusion is that there exists a high degreee of interinstitutional harmonization regarding the protection and security measures to be taken during the Summit.
The measures taken today consisted in securing the single corridor and checking the individuals and vehicles that entered the security zone. The measures were carried out by dispositions of the Protection and Guard Service, the Ministry of the Interior and Administrative Reform and the Romanian Intelligence Service.
As part of the general simulation, the Romanian Air Forces checked the ways of acting jointly with the other forces involved in Summit security operations. In Bucharest, PUMA helicopters belonging to the Defence Ministry carried out reconnaissance missions at the locations assigned to them for the Summit and also along the approved flight routes.
They also checked the technical capacities of secured communications and transmissions provided throughout this period by the Special Telecommunications Service.
Citizens called the NATO telephone number in the GSM networks and fixed telephone networks (more than 2,400 calls between 27-29 March). They requested information about vehicle and pedestrian traffic restrictions, bypasses for the public transportation, the airlines timetable and traffic on DN1.
