Wednesday, 26.03.2008, 09:57 AM

The Supreme National Defence Council, meeting on 25 March 2008, decided to raise the terrorist alert level from „Blue - GUARDED” to „Yellow – ELEVATED”. The latter involves the activation of special collaboration measures among the Romanian institutions, the Presidential Administration reports.

Last week, the National Security Committee for NATO Summit, which includes the Director of the Romanian Intelligence Service, decided to submit to the Supreme National Defence Council the proposal to raise the terrorist alert level, after assessing the security environment from the perspective of the Summit.

The members of the Supreme National Defence Council decided that the „Yellow – ELEVATED” alert level should be maintained throughout the Summit in Bucharest.

During the meeting on 25 March, the Supreme National Defence Council also analysed the implementation stage of the measures established with a view to providing optimal organization, security and a smooth progression for the NATO Summit and related events in Bucharest (2 – 4 April 2008).
