The Director of the NATO Office of Security, Michael Turner Evanoff: ”The success of this Summit placed Romania on the map”
Friday, 04.04.2008, 04:48 PM

According to the statements made on Friday by the Director of the NATO Office of Security, Michael Turner Evanoff, the Summit in Bucharest was a success from the point of view of the security system. He assured that the large number of public order forces is normal for a meeting of such proportions.

Evanoff said that it was probably the most successful Summit that he had seen in his 23-year career and praised the Romanian authorities for the excellent organization as regards the security system. ”The success of this Summit placed Romania on the map”, said Evanoff, adding that 62 heads of state and government would go back to their countries and explain how well the NATO Summit had been organized.

Asked about the inconveniences caused to the citizens because of the large number of public order forces, Evanoff explained that that was the first time Romania organized a Summit of such proportions and this would be the reason why the inhabitants of Bucharest might find it surprising, NewsIn reports.
