- 50 delegations will be welcomed at the airport by the Romanian authorities
Today, April 2, about 50 delegations are expected to arrive at Bucharest in order to participate in the NATO Summit.
Throughout the day, air traffic will be very heavy. This morning, 25 aircraft transporting delegations are scheduled to land in a 6-hour time interval. There will be a peak hour in which 10 aircraft are scheduled to land, which involves a very good coordination of all the security forces involved in these operations.
Today, the following 12 delegations led by Heads of State will arrive: Albania, Azerbaijan, Slovakia, Turkey, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, France, Turkmenistan and Finland.
In addition, there will arrive 15 Prime Ministers, among whom the German Chancellor, Ms Angela Merkel. Among the nations that delegated their Premiers to participate in the Summit are: Albania, Estonia, Belgium, Iceland, Denmark, Bulgaria, Holland, Great Britain, Luxemburg, Italy, Norway, Greece, Hungary, Spain, Portugal and New Zeeland.
The US Secretary of Defense, Mr. Robert M. Gates will also arrive at Bucharest today.
